This website is a forum for sharing information, ideas and good practice on transition from Years 6 to 7.

Education Leeds has carried out extensive research into the transition process in parts of the city. From in-depth interviews with pupils, teachers, learning mentors and transition assistants we have found that every school has a different approach to this period of change. This website provides an opportunity for colleagues across Leeds to share their experiences and expertise.

On the website, you will see examples of ways in which both primary and secondary schools deal with transition. All of the models and suggestions are based on activities that are currently being used in Leeds schools. We appreciate that although some of these ideas may work well in one school, they may not be suitable for all. We feel, however, that it is valuable to show how other schools tackle the issue and to illustrate practice that is proven to work well.
